Class Description

Experience one of Uzbekistan's three main styles of theatrical dance during four class sessions exploring the elegant and lyrical style called "Ferghana." Each class will include a standardized warm-up and introduce uniquely Uzbek elements of technique. Delicate and rhythmic movements of the hands, arms, head, shoulders, and torso will be emphasized along with footwork, turns, and traveling steps—all to the accompaniment of Uzbek traditional and contemporary music recordings. Combinations and choreography will blend technique with expressive qualities.
