Saturday, March 7, 2020,  7 pm -9 pm  The California Multicultural Arts Institute presents Gulistan in concert. Join us for DANCING THE SILK ROAD at the historic Octagon Barn Center in San Luis Obispo. This concert of traditional Central Asian dance culminates in a screening of Gulistan's short fantasy film ENCHANTED DUNE, directed by Aygul Maksutova and filmed at Oceano Dunes. Gulistan Dance Theater will perform by invitation in the 25th International Folk Festival "Eleni Limniati" in Loutraki, Greece. The entire company will travel to Athens and then on to Loutraki in Northern Pelepponese where we will perform concerts of Uzbek dance.

Sunday, October 22, 3-5 pm
World Premiere of Gulistan’s magical short film ENCHANTED DUNE. Directed by company member Aygul Maksutova, the film has been selected for the 20th Annual Los Angeles Polish Film Festival.

Saturday, April 4, 2015  Gulistan performs at UC San Diego in their 37th annual Cultural Celebration for Triton Admit Day. At 1:00 pm, Gulistan will take the stage with Uzbek dances from Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva and Tashkent.

Sunday, March 8, 2015   Gulistan Dance Theater performs with the UC Santa Cruz Eurasian Ensemble in its annual concert of Central Asian music. Directed by 
Dr. Tanya Merchant, the ensemble has invited Gulistan to perform several classical Uzbek dances. Dancers include Nikii Henry, Carolyn Krueger, Aygul Maksutova, Donna Speckman, Akiko Tanikawa and Chi Zhang. Master Percussionist Abbos Kosimov is also featured. March 14, 2010  GULISTAN dancers perform improvisational Persian dance to live accompaniment at the 2nd Annual Nowruz (Iranian New Year) Festival at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  Sponsored by the Farhang Foundation.

May 6, 2010   7pm to 9pm - Carolyn Krueger performs Central Asian and Persian dance at the Craft and Folk Art Museum (CAFAM) in a program celebrating the exhibit BOLD ABSTRACTIONS: Textiles from Central Asia and Iran. Directed by Rowan Storm, the performance features storytelling, musical performances by Rowan Storm, Tanya Merchant and Neil Siegel, and additional dances by Travis Jarrell.

May 16, 2010  GULISTAN RECEIVES TWO NOMINATIONS!  The Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles holds its annual Lester Horton Awards Celebration on 5/16.  Nominations are in two categories: Outstanding Achievement in World Dance for Crossings, an original full-length dance theater work; and Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design--Nikii Henry and Carolyn Krueger for "Enchanted Dune" (opening piece in Crossings--photo left).

August 29, 2010  Painter Laurel Sternberg photographs GULISTAN in preparation for her new series of 12 paintings depicting traditional scenes of Central Asian dancers and women.  Gulistan created several tableaux for the photo session.
