Before, during and after completing a ballet-intensive B.A. in Dance Performance at UC Irvine--where she studied with such luminaries as Eugene Loring and Antony Tudor--she developed into an accomplished Modern dancer. After settling in Los Angeles, she began performing with diverse artists and ensembles including Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers, Panegiri Greek Ensemble and AVAZ International Dance Theatre--where she embraced a life-changing passion for Central Asian dance. She next earned an M.A. in Choreography from UCLA, two Lester Horton award nominations, and two ArtsLink grants for study and performances in Uzbekistan with People's Artist of Uzbekistan, Viloyat Akilova of the celebrated Akilov family of dancers. Carolyn has been a featured Central Asian soloist on stages across the U.S. and in Uzbekistan as well as on Persian Television and Tashkent Television (Uzbekistan), and has been interviewed for radio broadcasts in Afghanistan, Iran and Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
